Hail Flux Sensor

The sensor is a low-power, maintenance-free, and fully sealed acoustic instrument with no moving parts. Its sensing unit features a triple-layer polished stainless steel disk mounted on a robust stainless steel crossarm. Hail impacts on the disk induce internal acoustic pressure variations. The instrument incorporates a dedicated analog conditioning module and digital I/O module, supporting:

  • Analog voltage output

  • SDI-12 communication

  • TTL communication

  • RS-232 communication

  • RS-485 communication

Typical application scenarios include:

  • Meteorology (hail/solid precipitation): High-resolution hail monitoring and early warning systems

  • Marine/offshore: Wind turbine arrays and buoy monitoring
